Open to a wide range of civilian and military users, the École Militaire’s library has been assembling a rich collection of modern and heritage items since 2009.

In addition to the 80,000 old, rare or precious documents in the heritage collection, the library holds 110,000 monographs in the modern collection, 40,000 of which are freely accessible, nearly 6,000 research documents (theses, dissertations, conference proceedings), 300 periodical titles and online commercial electronic resources, which can be accessed on site or remotely by authorised readers.



The Library’s teams enrich and enhance the library's collections, prepare and distribute documentary products and carry out training and documentary mediation activities for higher military education bodies. More broadly, its services are aimed at researchers, students and those involved in defence and security issues, both civilian and military, who value its thematic scope.





The École Militaire Library joined the French Defence University in 2022.
