Le J-7, en appui du Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, le CEMA américain, est responsable de la préparation du futur des forces armées américaines (expérimentations, concepts, formations) et de l’entrainement des Combatant Commands. Il est réparti entre le Pentagone et Suffolk en Virginie.

Lors de sa visite au CICDE, le LTG Anderson a rencontré le GDA Vincent Breton (directeur du CICDE) et plusieurs officiers chargés de domaines afin de couvrir différentes thématiques. Ces échanges ont ainsi permis de partager les visions des deux nations sur le concept multimilieux multichamps, et sur la démarche de « wargaming », et d’évoquer l’interopérabilité dans le cadre des travaux du Multinational Capability Development Campaign (MCDC) et en national.

Un point important des échanges a porté sur les enseignements majeurs tirés par les deux alliés sur le conflit en Ukraine ainsi que sur les évolutions sur le continent africain et au Proche Moyen Orient. Ces débats très denses ont montré une vraie proximité de pensée et d’analyse entre Etats-Unis et France. Les travaux communs entre le J7 et le CICDE ont permis de renforcer les liens entre les deux structures et d’impulser une dynamique nouvelle face aux enjeux à venir. Ce type de rencontre constitue une opportunité spécifique pour les deux pays de partager une vision globale de la menace et des réponses à y apporter.

Visit of a delegation of the US Joint Force Development to CICDE

Franco-American exchanges fruitful in LL, doctrine & wargaming

An American delegation led by Lieutenant-General (LTG) Anderson, Director of for Joint Force Development (J-7) of the US Joint Staff, visited CICDE on 15 March and extended his visit to France on 16 March, in Balard (French Ministry of Armed Forces) with interviews with several Flag Officers of the Etat-Major des Armées (General Staff of the Armed Forces).

The J-7, in support of the US Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, is responsible for preparing the future of the US armed forces (experiments, concepts, training) and training of Combatant Commands. It is divided between the Pentagon and Suffolk in Virginia. During his visit to CICDE, LTG Anderson met with MG Vincent Breton (Director of CICDE) and several officers responsible for domains to cover different themes. These exchanges thus made it possible to share the visions of the two nations on Multi-Domain Multi-Field concept (French version of Multi-Domain Operations), and on the a wargaming approach, and devolving interoperability in the framework of the work of the Multinational Capability Development Campaign (MCDC) and in national.

An important point of the exchanges was the major lessons learned by the two Allies on the conflict in Ukraine as well as the on developments on the African continent and in the Middle East. These very dense debates showed a real closeness of thought and analysis between the United States and France. The joint work between J7 and CICDE has strengthened the links between the two structures and has led to a new dynamic in the face of the challenges ahead. This type of meeting is a specific opportunity for the two countries to share a global vision of the threat and the risks answers to be given.
