The Institut des Hautes Etudes de Défense Nationale (IHEDN), which educates military personnel and civilians on defence issues, organises an annual presentation of the Air Force and Space Force's capabilities.

« The IHEDN is an important opportunity to present the skills and professionalism of the Air and Space Force to the nation's elected representatives (senators and deputies), as well as to all the members of the IHEDN (both industrial and military). »

Lieutenant-Colonel Clément, Commander of the 30th Fighter Wing at BA 118

The 2023 event was held on Thursday 12 October at BA 105 in Evreux. It was an opportunity for the French Air Force to demonstrate its space capabilities and missions. This year, space was the main topic: after an opening speech from the Air Force and Space Command Chief of Staff, General Stéphane Mille, the various Air Force and Space Command players were able to present their different missions during the morning's static display. The Space Command (CDE) was also able to present the new YODA satellite during the afternoon's dynamic demonstration. The demonstration was based on a fictitious scenario involving an attack on the Kourou Space Centre in French Guiana by a competitor whose aim is to delay the launch of the brand new YODA patrolling satellite.

"Space is one of the new areas of conflict for which the CDE's ambitions are to guarantee freedom of access and action in space. It is therefore important to explain to IHEDN students that the CDE's missions are an essential part of military operations, including space ones." - Major Pascal, innovation officer at the CDE.

The CDE's stand continued last year's success in attracting enquiries from both civilians and military personnel: another evidence of the interest aroused by military space activities and the growing influence of the Space Command!
