Presentation of AsterX 2025

AsterX 2025 is a space military exercise for space operations planning and implementation, based on a complex and realistic simulated scenario, which is and focused on in-depth integration, cooperation and interoperability.

An exercise for space operations planning and implementation

AsterX 2025's aims are :

  • Train all units and centres of French Space Command (CDE) in military space operations.
  • Conduct in-depth training jointly with other branches of the armed forces in a multi-domain environment.
  • Further integrate our external partners in Space Operations processes and procedures.
  • Enhance cooperation and interoperability with allied forces.
  • Enhance synergy with the French Space Agency (CNES) and foster private sector support for military space operations.

Based on a complex and realistic simulated scenario

This exercise is based on credibility and is representative of the complexity of the world in which we operate, in order to train participants with :

  • Fictional geopolitical scenario in a multi-domain environment inspired by current and future threats.
  • Simulated space environment with 4000 space objects and 29 ground-based space surveillance, detection and  tracking sensors.
  • 18 space events to simulate 10 different threat types in the full spectrum of earth orbits.
  • Comprehensive, revamped technical platform covering the complete range of civilian and military assets.

Focused on in-depth integration, cooperation and interoperability

AsterX 2025 includes participants from a wide range of backgrounds:

  • The units and operational centres of the CDE.
  • The representatives of the other armed forces domains - Army, Air Force and Navy - integrated in the command structure.
  • French Cyber Command, French Directorate for Military Intelligence (DRM) and French Directorate for Defence Infrastructure Networks and Information Systems (DIRISI).
  • The French Space Agency (CNES), French Aerospace Lab (ONERA) and NATO SPACE Center of Excellence (COE).
  • 8 industrial partners.
  • 12 foreign partners.
