AsterX is tactical and operational training for all the French Space Command units, enabling them to continue qualifying for the military space operations with institutional, industrial and foreign partners.

AsterX 2025 exercises French Space Command (CDE) units and partners with a cyber attack on the force's command center. The force's control room screens display error messages: a cryptolocker virus is spreading like wildfire, locking down workstations one by one. This cyber attack is claimed by a group of cybercriminals affiliated to the competitor. The space component players immediately report the incident, using the cyber-defense incident escalation chain from the COCEA (Centre des Opérations Cyber-Electronique Air) to the COMCYBER. They maintain continuity of operations and activate back-up protocols, switching to backup systems. The force's satellites continue to transmit data, but the situation remains precarious. At the same time, cyber security experts are analyzing malicious code. COMCYBER identifies the origin of the attack, so countermeasures can be deployed to restore the systems and the CDE's full capacity. In a situation like this, synchronization with the COCEA and COMCYBER is crucial, and players must continue operations in a degraded environment.

As part of its 5th edition, AsterX integrates cyber issues through this joint incident with COMCYBER's DEFNET exercise: cyberspace and the space domain are environments of increasing conflict.
